This month has seen the deployment of staff, tools and equipment to Afghanistan for the start of the build projects around Kabul. The installation team, lead by Dean Russell have all arrived safely and have quickly acclimatised to their new home for the next few weeks and are making good progress.

We’ll soon be embarking on a maintenance programme for structures in Scotland and the South east. The programme will be taking place in November and there will be spare capacity within the team to encompass other operator structures. Should this be of interest to you then please get in touch as soon as possible so that we can put together a suitable schedule in good time.

Bulletin 25

To mark the completion of Shape Services’ maintenance commitment in Iraq, we are completing a sponsored walk with all proceeds going to the Help for Heroes campaign. We will be completing a 12 mile walk from Staithes through to Whitby in September. Both our offices in Doncaster and Darlington will be taking part. All sponsorships will be matched £1 for £1 by Shape so please be generous when we contact you for support.

There is a saying in Doncaster that winter comes in on the last horse of the St Ledger. As The Ledger is being run on 9th to 12th Sept we know that winter is just around the corner. However, there is still time to do that all important maintenance work before the really bad weather hits us yet again, so why not give us a call to book in your requirements.

Bulletin 24

Guernsey

Following another successful installation in Guernsey, our field engineers have assisted in the site surveys for the 2G network upgrade. The site surveys will allow our customer to complete the programme to migrate the sites with minimum risk to service standards for the islands mobile phone users.

Afghanistan

Following on from last months bulletin, Shape engineers have completed the in theatre surveys for the DLOS and ICN work around Kabul. Many thanks to the local NC3A team who have offered assistance in getting the work done and thanks also to Stuart McCubbin for his pointers for which he receives employee of the month.

Bulletin 23

June saw the in theatre installation of new communication shelters for ISAF. Steve Allenby formed part of the Shape / Siemens / NC3A team working to install and commission the new equipment in four key locations in Afghanistan. Despite a few delays in getting around, the job went well and Steve is now home after his tour. Shape has now signed a new contract with NC3A to support the move of facilities from KAIA (KAbul International Airport) South to North. The Shape work will take place over the coming months, the first stage of which will be in theatre survey work taking place this month. The Challenge Continues

Shape Services have this month begun a programme of tower refurbishment for a customer in the Balkan states. Our project team are proud of the achievements so far, to manage and complete such tasks in what are often extremely sparsely populated and challenging areas and environments.

Bulletin 21

With the extreme weather conditions within the Kosovo area, towers require constant inspection and up keep. Subsequently Shape Services are gearing up to start a tower maintenance program in Kosovo which will run for the next few months. As the British forces leave Iraq all radio equipment that has been maintained by our engineers for the past 5 years is slowly but surely being withdrawn for onward processing. This lengthy task looks to be on ongoing for some time to come. The NATO commitment in Afghanistan is continuing grow and as such Shape Services are assisting in a number of areas to ensure that the men on the ground have the best communications possible.

Airtel Vodafone gear up in Jersey for Another Year Both Field Engineers and Management return to Jersey with a fresh infusion of energy. Works ramp up with deinstallation of temporary sites, new sites builds and Microwave Install & commission. Further contracts are in negotiation for the future.

Bulletin 17

Company Directors Dean Russell and Steve Allenby attended the Gitex Exhibition in Dubai. A considerable amount of interest in our installation and maintenance services was generated prompting high hopes for the not too distant future.

Shape Services Ltd provide personnel for high risk areas where individual security clearances are required to work in sensitive areas. Works completed were Line Of Sight surveys, Installation of Ericsson Mini-links and the erection of portable masts. Another project successfully carried out in adverse conditions by skilled and security cleared staff! Well done lads!
